The 2019 ITU Pontevedra World Championships by Santander will have Coca-Cola as the official drink of the Multisport World Championships that will be held between the 27th of April and the 4th of May in Pontevedra. Today, the sponsorship agreement has been signed between the organising committee (chaired by Mayor Miguel Anxo Fernández Lores) and María Troncoso on behalf of Coca-Cola, an agreement which means there will be more than 70,000 drinks available for athletes and volunteers each day of the championships, including water, Powerade, Aquarius and other Coca-Cola products.
In addition, Coca-Cola has announced that as part of their collaboration with the local government of Pontevedra that they will develop a series of training activities and interactive games in the Triathlon Expo from tomorrow (Wednesday) until the end of the Multisport World Championships in order to raise awareness about the importance of recycling packaging for the sustainability of the environment.
Miguel Ángel Fernández Lores appeared calm and expectant about the work that has already been done and the assembly of all the infrastructures needed to organise the sporting event, which he claimed to be “the most important in the history of the city.” “We have been preparing the World Championships for a long time, we went to Denmark to see what we could improve and what we should do the same … and we also have the experience of the 2014 Duathlon World Championships, the support of the Spanish Triathlon Federation and the ITU. We have a great working team and Pontevedra is a city which is heavily involved in this sport. This will be the most spectacular Multisport World Championships in the history of these events, not only for the sport, but also for the concerts and parallel activities that have never been done before. It has been thought through and worked out to even the tiniest detail¨ asserted Fernandez Lores.
