The Pontevedra 2019 Multisport World Championships, which are taking place between the 27th of April and the 5th of May, will recruit some 400 volunteers who will team up with the organisation staff during the five race days of the World Championships.  Volunteers are needed to support different administrative, sports and security areas.  Pontevedra’s official Volunteer Office, which was created ten years ago, is receiving and processing applications to participate in the event as volunteers; local Galician residents and visitors alike can volunteer during the competitions.  Athletes who will be spending several days in the city and may be participating in various races are invited to volunteer for other races, and their travel companions may also wish to volunteer to get an even closer experience of the event, seeing everything that happens from within the Pontevedra 2019 Multisport team.  All information on how to become a volunteer can be found here: https://bit.ly/2ScTPfX

Pontevedra’s Volunteer Office has aquired a great deal of experience since its debut at the Police and Fire Brigade games.  Last year they collaborated with the organisers and supported the Cross and Long Distance Triathlon test events which were held in the city; the Spanish Cross Triathlon Cup and the Spanish Long Distance Championship.  Representing the Pontevedra Volunteers’ Office, some volunteers also went to the ETU Ibiza 2018 European Multisport Championships, joining forces with the local organisation team and working in various areas of the championship races.

Volunteers will participate in the event by working in, assisting and supporting administrative areas, accreditation, protocol and ceremonies, physiotherapy and logistics, media and press services, and as sports officials as well as being road and sports safety delegates with relevant safety tasks.  Anyone from the age of 16 and above can become a volunteer in one of the biggest events ever to be held in Galicia and Spain.  People who sign up to the Pontevedra volunteer program will receive general and specific training relating to the whole event and their particular position, an official uniform and equipment, and will be covered by civil liability and accident insurance.  Volunteers will enjoy a special program of activities designed just for them and access to the various parties of the Championships.
